Meet Rintje

Rintje is the cool, loving and adventurous dog from Sieb Posthuma’s popular children's books. With a cocked ear and his nose in the air, this fox terrier explores the world around him. Going to school for the first time, having birthdays, sleepovers at grandma’s, going to the doctor. He also likes to play with his friends Tobias and Henriette. Posthuma created recognizable situations for children from 3 to 6 years: accessible, funny and sometimes touching.

Rintje

Rintje likes to play pranks on his mother and friends. Sometimes they get a little out of hand. He is always excited to discover something new. In his own, somewhat naïve way he often finds himself in awkward situations. Fortunately, his mother, grandmother and friends always help him figure it out in the end.

Tobias

Tobias is a small dachshund who, despite their differences in personality, is close friends with Rintje. They always support each other and Tobias happily joins Rintje on his exciting adventures.

Henriëtte

Henriëtte is a little on the vain, with pretty pink ribbons in her fur and a sweet demeanor. But she is also courageous and doesn’t shirk from going out with Rintje and Tobias.

How it started...

Rintje is well-known and beloved by children in the Netherlands. For ten years, illustrator and writer Sieb Posthuma wrote weekly stories featuring Rintje for the NRC newspaper. He based these stories and illustrations on his own fox terrier. In 2003, Querido publishers compiled the stories and the first book, Rintje Smells Adventure appeared in bookstores. In the following years, various new books were added. Since 2016, Rintje has appeared on television in a 26-part animation series broadcast in the Netherlands, Belgium and Finland.
